One of the most important steps for any overseas trip is to make sure you have packed everything that you will need while you are away.
When going to the airport always take parents - for goodbyes and so that someone can take home the extra stuff when your bags are 28kg over the weight limit. (If you're the parent you may even score some of the stuff as a thank you for taking it home)
Be careful about turning your head to the side to watch the exciting take-offs and landings as this can lead to strained neck muscles and severe headaches until you reach the stopover.
A trip to Europe involves a long and possibly stressful flight although, despite other advice I had heard, my travelling companion Tina insists that drinking on the plane is the best way to make the flight less of a strain on yourself.
If you are lucky you will have the chance to see the best movie ever on the flight which should help the time pass.
With luck you will reach the refreshing stopover without a trace of weariness. After that it's all downhill until you arrive in Europe.
When you arrive at Vienna airport you may find that your flight is 50 minutes early. Tina would insist that you have a 6am beer while waiting for your lift to arrive.
